If you are fully vaccinated and need an urgent PCR test to exit quarantine as soon as possible, Private Harley Street Clinic is pleased to offer an expedited in-clinic PCR Test, with 3 - 5 hour results turn-around.

This service can also be organised as a home visit by a nurse or an out of hours appointment (please send us an email to book either of these options).

Full details of quarantine/self-isolation requirements for various countries can be found on the website.

Please note, this is not a Fit to Fly test and no Fit to Fly Certificate will be issued. If you require a pre-travel test please visit this page

From 28th November, all vaccinated travellers arriving into the UK should quarantine at home and take a Day 2 PCR test.  You can leave isolation when your negative result is confirmed. This change is due to a new variant of concern originating in Southern Africa.

The rules for unvaccinated travellers remain unchanged: if you are arriving into the UK and your are not fully vaccinated you are required to take a pre-departure Lateral Flow Test before setting off for the UK, and then self-isolate for 10 Days upon arrival, taking a Day 2 and 8 PCR Test during that time. You must book these test before coming into the UK. If you are unvaccinated and taking both Day 2 and 8 Tests, you have the option to take an additional test on Day 5 of your quarantine, called a Test to Release.

Day 2 PCR Tests will be required for passengers entering the UK, regardless of vaccination status. This change is due to a new variant of concern in Southern Africa.

Simply attend your appointment at the designated time and a clinician will quickly and painlessly take your sample, which will be fast tracked to a laboratory in London.

Results for this fast-tracked PCR testing service are available in as little as 3 hours. If your test comes back positive, you will need to follow the NHS guidance on self-isolation. Our lab will be able to confirm the variant of Covid-19 that you tested positive for within 5 days of your positive result (on request).

  • Do not chew gum, drink coffee or smoke for at least 2 hours prior to testing. This may spoil the sample.
  • Mouthwash not to be used for 24 hours.
  • Nothing can go in the nose for at least 24 hours prior to testing, this includes: nasal medication, saline, hay fever sprays, cotton buds, etc.

All of the above can inhibit the sample and mean they it needs to be retested or may not enable a conclusive result to be delivered.
